Airport Concern Alliance
Address: Door 1, Balcarce Bldg., Confessor Drive, Cabatuan, Province of Iloilo
Telephone No.: 033-5227668
Nature of organization: community organization comprised of farmers and
farm workers
Email address: venus@aca.org.ph
Organization Profile
The Airport Concern Alliance is composed of 600 members spread over three towns in Iloilo – Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and San Miguel. It has been in existence since late 1998. It is composed of farmers and
farm workers who will be affected by the impending construction of the Iloilo International Airport. Since last year, the organization set up a cooperative which has a store selling pesticides and fertilizers in the poblacion of Cabatuan. The Free Email Project will be set up in a portion of this store.
The organization says that the Free Email Project “would benefit the members by harnessing their children to be the trainers with regard to technology. Furthermore, this would be a great opportunity for them to establish linkages with other like-minded organizations thru email, share experiences and gain lessons.”
The Free Email Project in Cabatuan, Iloilo was launched March 9,
2002 with Assistant Cabatuan Parish Priest Fr. Noni Beltran and
Cabatuan Municipal Mayor Ramon Yee as guests. PHDF was
represented by President Joel Disini while the Airport Concern
Alliance was represented by Rubin Alfaro in the turn-over
ceremonies.
This project is the first in the Visayas group of islands and
the seventh project of the PHDF.
