Building Best
Practice in Providing Email Connectivity
This implies investments in appropriate technologies and
methodologies towards its transfer to rural partners: through
installation services, training, apprenticeship, mentoring,
and post-installation services.
This is dependent on the replication of physical centers in
various rural communities with a network of computers enabled
with Internet email access, adapting to specific and localized
conditions and drawing out the communities' creative and
varied response in harnessing new technology to improve their
lives.
Developing Strategic Partnerships
Instead of reinventing the wheel, strategic partnerships with
rural area-based organizations, shall be established to
promote the use of Internet email as a tool to more quickly
access information relevant to their lives.
Partnerships also include tying up with those individuals and
companies with the resources and capabilities to faster
provide the free service to targeted rural areas.
Sustaining Connectivity through Community Ownership
Local partner organizations of the PH Domain Foundation in
project sites may be a non-government organization (NGO), a
people's organization (PO), and educational, religious, media
institution, and/or civic organization that shall maintain and
sustain the free email connectivity project towards the
long-term goal of the rural community developing the full
capacity to manage and own it.
